I just bought 2 stealth coolers for my voodoo2 SLI setup &
a lasagna coolers for my mill. G200. They're working on a
BH6 with a cel. 300 @ 450 mhz., 2.0 v (which is cooled with the
standard celeron cooler)
Before using those coolers I had a mobo temp. of about 39 C,
now, after 1 hour on Unreal, I get about 37 C ....
(btw, I leave my case open, otherwise it will heat up very quickly)
....

Only 2 degrees with those 3 coolers ?????

what's going on ??

robin

I would think that your case would get HOTTER when you have better cooling
(heatsink & fan) on some hot components because these coolers take heat from
your hot components and dissipates the heat inside your case. The coolers
don't change heat into cold, they just move the heat around. You then need
good case ventilation (which everybody recommends) to get this heat out of
the case. So, the object here is not to just get a lower reading on a temp.
sensor.
I put a fan blowing on the back of my 300A o/c to 450 and the temp reading
of my BH6 (motherboard of course) immediately went from 32C to 27C. The
temp inside the case did NOT go down. Only the sensor and surrounding
components. I am assuming from this immediate drop in temp. that the sensor
is located somewhere behind the CPU slot.

Those temps are not out of the ordinary. But you have not stated what fan
is intaking fresh air. At the moment the fans on the video cards are just
recirculating the same warm air around them. What you must do is attempt to
circulate fresh air through your case. Since hot air rises, intake fresh air
from the bottom and then exhaust it out of the top with your power supply
fan or a top rear case fan. Such arrangements will give you a cooler
internal case temperature than by removing the case..

If you have a long pipe with an intake fan at one end and an exhaust fan at
the other, then it's quite reasonable for a novice to assume that fresh air
would be circulating through that pipe. If you remove the middle portions
of the pipe then the fans will only circulate air through the remaining
enclosed end sections, with minimal circulation now occurring in the centre.
Think of your case as an air duct.

Actually dude, you should leave your case CLOSED, so that air circulates
properly around the Mboard and component cards. I know many non technical
people will argue about this, but the fact is that's the way cases are
designed to work - to circulate air at so-many linear feet per second
down past the HDs, over the PCI cards, and out the front of the case.

You should also make sure that all emtpy expansion slots have their
backplates on, so proper airflow is maintained.

Of course this is not the final word, there are other ways of providing
sufficient cooling, such as a Peltier cooling system, or leaving the case
open and directing OBSCENE amounts of air straight over all the cards
(this will REALLY dust up your case, and shorten the life of your
components as well, sorry to say).

Just a few pointers from your friendly neighborhood CPU wholesaler.

Depend on how you adjusting your heater of your room. My room temperature is
ranging from 20C to 27C.

So my room should be 10C. to get a better result from those
coolers.... right !

You can`t just stick them in, you`ve got to be more scientific. If you
are having to keep the case lid of then either your case isn`t big
enough or the distribution of air inside is wrong. Keeping the lid off
just defeats the object of having all those coolers.

I don't think that's very hot. I have a P2-333 (no Celeron and not
overclocked (yet)) and a single V2 and after 2 hours of Unreal I've got a
temp. of 37 C.

Even with an open case I get a temperature of up to 46/47 degrees C!

But that's no prob, cause a P2 can withstand up to 70 degrees C.

That is why it is so hard to compare temps. Everyones room temp is going to
be different. Someone who might be in the middle of their winter, posts
that the temp of his case is 28 C, his room temp might be 18 C. Then
someone in the middle of summer, posts that their temp is 40 C, and he
might have a room temp of 30 C. It is very rare for anyone to post their
room temp with their case temp, even though you need both temps for
comparison. It is always hard to get your case temp down with normal
cooling, if your room temp is high. If you really want to get your case
temp down, buy air conditioning for your room :-)

Yeah, and how you put your coolers? I have in my case 8 coolers. Front all
coolers push the air and back coolers pull the air so there is very good air
flow in inside of my case. I have some couple coolers pushing air in left side
of case too :) But m/b temp is around 40.. I have dual p2 300, 4hd and ELSA
GLoria-XXL which makes lot of heat too with those grafic prosessors.

40 is not still bad.. in my old case there was around 40-70 and thats too
big.. sometimes my machine crashed because of heat (ambien temp is around
20-35). So don`t worry about 30-40. Usually max temp for computer part is
about 50-60.
