Video Card Virus?

I have a ELSA Erazor X graphics card with a nVidia GeForce 256 chipset.
Suddenly one day my screen went a tab bit darker and every window casted a
shadow horizontally across the screen. I asked a techie at CompUSA about it
and he said I may have a virus on the card. He said to get rid of the virus,
simply get a new card or fdisk my boot drive. I tried the latter and that
didn't help. I removed the card and dust busted it and the whole motherboard
thoroughly. Nothing.

Any ideas? Do I really need a new card? What exactly could the problem be?

P.S. - I haven't tested the card in another machine because I do not want to
spread a potential virus.
