Since you asked this in the WinHelp group I assume you mean you want a 
simple sound from your HLP file.
Easiest is to use one of the "standard" WAV files (e.g. DING.WAV or 
TADA.WAV), which get installed on everyone's machine.  All of the help 
author tools (I think) will assist you in adding such a sound.  I know 
HELLLP! will (http://www.guysoftware.com/helllp.html).
If you want a non-standard WAV file, you can do that too, but then you 
have to ship it with your application.
