Sean Werkema (stw113@psu.edu) was babbling about: > Much as I hate to respond to a cross-post, I agree. This has always been a > pet-peeve of mine. When this industry started out, we could write virtually > anything we knew how to code. These days a certain Mr. Gates is planning to > tell us that we can't code anything at all unless it runs in Windows... > That ain't right. > So, to do my part, I will continue (as I have in the past) to boycott MS Win. > I won't code for it whenever humanly possible, much as I may be depriving > users of my software. I hope that other programmers out there will strongly > consider doing likewise, at least until Gates acknowledges that there IS > something else out there besides Windows. > And, until that date, I'm doing DOS and Linux. And as much as I hate to follow-up to cross-posted follow-ups, I agree. I do have a job where I do alot of windows programming, but it is the kind of application that requires Windows compatability (with other Windoze programs). I absolutely refuse to use Winblows here at home. On a 386 SX 25 MHz, it's just too damned slow. I can use Novell Dos 7 and run programs as I wish (Novell Dos 7 has a Multi-tasking program shipped with), without a slow user-unfriendly interface. Just because I don't have a 120 MHZ Pentium at home (I do at work) shouldn't mean that I can't run a simple word processor. -- _/ _/_/ _/_/ _/ _/_/ _/_/ _/_/ _/ _/ _/ _/_/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ Shaw Terwilliger/ _/ sterwill@nox.cs.du.edu _/ IRCNICK: NumbLock _/ "And Ah Hayelped!"_/ shaw@prairienet.org _/ Mail To: nox.cs.du.edu _/ _/_/ _/_/ _/ _/_/_/ _/ _/_/ _/ _/_/ _/ _/_/ _/_/ _/_/ _/_/ _/_/
