You agree that Netetera was wrong in calling the patches "upgrades". Netetera told me (quote) "I had the gaul to complain for what are two software packages". That is version 2.51 and 2.6 of NetcGold. You agree that a patch cannot be called another software package.......... > >>> You are not >>> connected to Netcetera, are you? >>> > >I purchased my copy the same as everyone else, and as such am a very >satisfied customer. Excellent support on occasions it has been needed, >in fact they have answered email just a quick as Forte. > I have emailed them several times without an answer. I cannot use my copy of NetcGold because it has clashed. I paid for this (and support) and they ignore me. BTW, they say they monitor these newsgroups, yet they haven't even replied to this thread....... >>> > >>> Agent can handle multiple accounts. > >How I have just looked at the Agent help file and I cannot see how to run >multiple accounts from one copy of the program. Unless you mean by having >more than one copy of the program loaded > Okay, we were all new to computing once. Go to the help menu and click on "Search". This will bring up a list of keywords used in the program. Type "multi-user" and this will take you to instructions in setting this up. Agent stores its settings and data files in the "Start in" folder specified in its shortcut. This allows a single copy of the program's common files (such as, the .exe, help, spell check files) to be used by several users or with several news servers. >>> NetcGold can only handle 5 whilst >>> Agent can handle any number for free. > >NetcGold can handle as many as you like, mine at the moment is set up for >seven. If >Agent can do that I would like to know how please. > I could only set mine up for 5 when Netcetera demanded extra payment, despite the fact that I wasn't told of this limit when I paid for NetcGold. When I contacted them, I was told (quote) "it is standard procedure to charge more for those users who want to exceed a reasonable limit". Agent (& several others) makes no limit & is easy to set up. > >>> I have been on the Internet for a >>> great many years (long before it was "cool") and have picked up a few >>> facts during that time. >>> > >How is that relevant to how a program performs. The above is a reply to you when you said "I guess when someone sucumbs to cheap sarcasm, it shows lack of facts to support knowledge." Again, I have been using the Internet for a great many years, have tried MANY programs during that time but have come across none like NetcGold. >>> When I find something seriously wrong with something, I shall warn >>> people. >>> > >Fine that is as it should be, so what is *seriously* wrong with NetcGold, >bearing in mind that the perfect computer program has not yet been >written, it is bound to have some faults. Sure there are some minor things >with it I don't like, but I do not accept it has serious faults. I should >like to hear just what it is that you contend this fault is. > After this far into the thread, you now ask what I'm complaining about? Please re-read my messages. In short: 1. It clashes all the time, not just on mine but I have read other messages regarding this. Is this "minor"? 2. It is slow. Try doing a search or "read next unread article" and it takes forever to find it (Agent & many others are instant). This program is written in Basic, yet! 3. I cannot get support from Netcetera, even though I paid for this. My copy of NetcGold has clashed and is unusable. ------------------------------ Regards Chris Jones chris@abint.demon.co.uk -----------------------------
