I have not had any trouble with any other apps on a brand new Windows 95 setup. Before any individuals attempt to imply that 'I may not know what I'm doing', I have worked with computers since 1970 and do know my way around Windows 3.x and 95 quite well. I tried NetCPlus on 2 systems, one a Windows 3.11 on a 486DX 66 Mhz and the other was Windows 95 (latest OEM release) on a Pentium 120 Mhz with 32 Meg EDO 60 ns RAM. I got the same slow single threaded erratic performance on both systems and blew it off after an official Netcetera upgrade screwed up so badly that the only thing to do was manually delete all traces of it from the system. Yes the upgrade munged up the 'un install' function supplied by Netcetera. I would like to make a few observations here: 1) All parties seem to be getting too personally involved and it seems that bickering has replaced the original thread. 2) Delete all instances of VBRUN300.DLL from your HD's and you will see that NetCPlus (Gold) will NOT run. This means 2 absolute things: a) NetCPlus is a Basic (Visual Basic 3.0) app. b) This also means it is a 16 bit application. 3) NetCPlus is single threaded and this means that you have to wait for a large mail/news download to finish before you can even read the first message! If this doesn't fall in the category of slow or slow-down then you are a most tolerant software user. :-) 4) When you post to any ng that is concerned with mail/news readers and ask anything about NetCPlus, you get very little response and most of what you do get is not very positive. This tells me that few people use this software and some that tried got the same impression that I did. 5) I also think that Chris may have something when he implies that the rabid defender of NetCGold is affiliated with Netcetera? I am at a loss as to why he is so defensive of this product, unless he is one of the authors or has stock in the company? :-) 6) This thread is also cross-posted to hell and back and I am going to also contribute to the bandwidth decline for this one post only. 7) As far as I'm concerned this thread is dead and I will not respond to it anymore. [ Please die thread! :-) ] If the thread must live on then please try to make it more civil? Is it possible that people would have a fist fight or worse over an 'offline news/mail reader'? Have a nice day! Bill -- Assume a virtue if you have it not. \/\/\/\/\/\/\/ Wild Bill \/\/\/\/\/\/\/
