The handheld's ROM can only be flashed through a cable/cradle connection. Anyway, the hotsync problem you experience is certainly due to ESD. Please connect to http://kb.palmone.com/PalmEU_uk.html and, in the 'Solution ID' field enter 5598. It will lead you to appropriate troubleshoot. As mentioned in the article, be aware that your palm's data must be backed-up before proceeding, either though a serial hotsync or using a backup card. Cheers, Laurent.
