Had two IBM 30 gig 75GXP's go wierd on me the last few weeks, one had bad sectors and was replaced under warranty, the other suffered a track misalignment (fixed by a low level format). Watch the cooling in your computers guys as this can hurry the track misalignment (head heats up). Also have an IBM 60GXP 40GB here running no problems. Due to the problems with my IBM drives I bought a pair of 60 gig Seagate Barracuda IV's and set them up as a RAID 0 config. Dead quiet, absolutely no noise at all during seeks. Benches around 65MB/sec on sequential transfers on the RAID. The IBMs have slightly better seek times than the Seagates, but not enough to be too worried about. I'll stick to Seagate from now on until good user reports of the next series of IBM drives trickle in :) JNIK wrote: > I was planning on going for the IBM Deskstar60GXP 41.1GB to accompany my > asus a7m266 mobo but have heard alot of reports lately that they are having > alot of troubles with this drive, has anybody got any alternatives they can > recommend to me? > cheers > JNIK
