I am never going to get my work done today . . .

I am delighted with my HP-RW (i thought it came with the adeptec).

Make your CD-ROM the "master" (it probably already is set for "master",
however mine wasnot, so i had to take everything out and do it all over
again, and without a screwdriver at that), and the RW the "slave" (if the RW
is second on the cable).

Place your RW softwear in the CD-ROM, and do exactly as it sez. After
completion of installation, of course remove software and carefully place
back in holder.

Place one of your old/tried/and true, regular music CD's in your CD-ROM;
then place a new, blank CD-R in your newly installed CD-RW; wait and when a
message comes up asking you what kind of "burn" you want; click music; then
do exactly as it sez (nothing fancy though). Eventually you will want to
click "for any CD drive"; this step should come after the first selection,
where you selected the "music" burn); such as in your car.

In other words: you will need to click the kind of disk to burn; then the
kind of "drive" you want (you want the one that will let you play it in your
car etc.). When burn is completed (a pop-up should tell you); now remove
everything, and now proudly place newly burned disk into the CD-ROM; maybe
it will begin to play immediately, if not do what ever it is you always do
to get your CD-ROM running; then try the disk in your car.

The reason i am telling you to do this is because it is the easy one to do
(the others are very difficult to learn). Once you know everything is
working properly, and you have practiced; carefully venture to a "copy".
Always remember to use a CD-R disk before you jump to the CD-RW disk, until
you get the hang of things (do your baby steps first, and in no time at all
you will be galloping down that hill at break-neck speed).

The CD-R disks, upon which you practice, can be thrown away; they are cheap.
The CD-RW disks are over twice the price (these are the ones you use as a
huge "floppy", and there are two different ways of burning and selecting the
drives' usage, and one is more sophisticated than the other, and i doubt if
you will ever need that one). i feel sure the music and copy (done on a
CD-R, and the floppy (done on a CD-RW) are the ones you need to learn.

You are right, life is meaningless without the RW, man cannot live by CD-ROM
alone; but by the CD-RW.
