I advise anybody who is thinking of joining a Bally's Health Club to stop and look elsewhere. They have caused my friends and I a great pain. Here's my story... Bally's Health Club has a history of cheating people. When you go to apply for an account, they claim there is no other plan available except the most expensive one. When you go to the club to workout, they have signs that say "Please limit your workout to 30 minutes", When you pay your bill they claim that you still owe more money. Here is my story. It all started when I joined two years ago. I was really into baseball, and I needed to get in shape for the season. I joined a three year plan. The salesperson (Rip Off Artist) convinced me that the only plan I could get was a three year plan. Later I found out there was a six month student plan I could have gotten for a lot cheaper. Apaying $24 a month for a year they offered for me to finish my plan payments. I paid a total of about $315.00 to end the monthly payments. It saved me much interest I THOUGHT!!! In acknowledgement, they sent me a nice t-shirt and I though it was over for the payments. For the last year I have been attending the same Skokie,IL club witouht trouble. On Thursday, I went into the club and got in, only to realize that I didn't have a lock for my locker. I left to go to K-mart to buy one. When I came back, they ran my card number and I had to go see a Rip Off Artist in the back. I sat and talked with him as we looked at the computer screen with my account on it. He said I owed $18 to get in. I explained to him that I payed everything off. He gave me the run around, telling me there is no such thing to pay it off at once and that I have had to be making payments. How funny that I got in earlier that same day and suddenly I had to pay. It seems to me that a salesperson messed with my aaccount to get more money from me. He called a number an talked (or acted like he was talking) to someone about my account. Suddenly I owe $70 to get in. I told him I was going to go home to get my things that said that I am payed up. He got pissed and didn't allow me access. He said he had been working there four years and that that's not the way Bally's does things. He was really smart ass too when he found I wasn't going to give him anything that night. Well, I got home and called Bally's and the man I talked with said I had to call the next morning. I called the next morning only to be told that my account was in the hands of Member Services and that I had to call long distance. I said what is this line for? She said that this was customer service. I said "Yeah! I'm a customer, serve me!" I asked to speak to somebody in charge and I was tranferred to a machine where I never got a call back. So I'm trapped, I can't talk to anyone at Bally's, and I paid for a health club I can't use. I know it happens to many other people. They mislead everyone and want all of you money. So don't get trapped like me. Now I have to call my State's Attourney and the Better Business Beaureu.
