I am using software for a similar setting without the cost of an additional hardware box, and it runs without any problems on my machine. It is possible to use the same physical line, since the same modem supports the two modes (fax/data) I am using. When I get a ZyXel, I might add a third mode application, voicemail. Currently, the first number is uucp/news/mail, the second is fax, and the third is for bbs (not running yet). I use it under OS/2 2.0 GA+SP with UnTieCom(tm). UnTieCom is a product of mine which frees the comm port from applications waiting for a call. It also detects multiring. If you have only one line, you might want to avoid the ringing for the other numbers. A workaround would be to assign a sound making program to your voice number, and it will create the ring sound. You would have to turn the ringers on the phones off. > > >------------------------------------------------------- >rjt@softin.lonestar.org (Richard Threlkeld) >Don't pay any attention to that man behind the curtain.
