For floppies the simplest way I have found is to create 2 entries in the
fstab and 2 mount points in the /mnt directory referring to the same
device /dev/fd0.

/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy msdos
noauto,owner,user,suid,exec,dev,rw 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/fd0 ext2
noauto,user,suid,exec,rw,dev 0 0

If you use a filemanager that automounts such as gentoo or gmc ?kfm you
simply put the floppy in the drive and navigate to floppy or fd0 in the
filesystem depending on what format the floppies is using. If you use
the usermount program you can mount, unmout or reformat but you will
still need a filemanger to access the files.
