a bootable partition must start *and end* above 1024 cylinders. You need to create a small /boot partition where the kernel will be stored. The root partition can go anywhere. In your case, you'd set it up like this (assuming the first free cylinder is 1000): 1000 - 1001 - /boot partition 1002 - whatever / partition see large-disk HOWTO at www.linux.org/help for more info Eugene tr8a <dravis69@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:fGbn4.7883$VJ1.14039@newsfeeds.bigpond.com... > <THIS EMAIL HAS BEEN MULTI-POSTED on alt.linux, alt.os.linux, > aus.computers.linux, it.comp.linux, linux, linux.redhat.install, > uk.comp.os.linux> > <PLEASE SEND REPLIES TO dravis@mail.com> > > hi. first LINUX RULEZ!!!! > > ok, i'm planning on using windows & linux on the same PC (I need windows for > school work, and other family members).
