Hello people, i have just clean installed redhat 7.0, all is running nicely except when i try to start licq or netscape. When i try and start licq i get the following [ERR] Unable to resolve icq.mirabilis.com...Host name lookup failure. Netscape gives me unable to resolve host...Im using the rpms that came with the cd and i have tried upgraded versions. I did install lokkit and some other firewall software but i have yet to set it up (if this help). Any thoughts would be appreciated..thanx...ziff

do other sites work in netscrape? try a nslookup on icq.marabilis.com First thing to do is check your DNS setup, look in /etc/resolv.conf for the correct IP addresses, also check nsswitch.conf and make sure the hosts: line contains both files and dns what was the firewall you installed? site: www.ozetechnology.com +++ New Images in the Gallery +++ In article <rCJR5.36581$SF5.670057@ozemail.com.au>, "ziff" <ziff1@hot..mail.com> wrote: > Hello people, i have just clean installed redhat 7.0, all is running nicely > except when i try to start licq or netscape. Well done on finding this one. You can set the dns from linuxconf or by adding the lines into the resolv.conf file. being M$ free is the only way to be :-) site: www.ozetechnology.com +++ New Images in the Gallery +++ In article <FBMS5.41794$SF5.740803@ozemail.com.au>, "ziff" <ziff1@hot..mail.com> wrote: > thanx people...your input has been most appreciated, it turns out that i > forgot to include the primary and secondary name servers for my isp when i > was setting up kppp-yeah i know (a no brainer) but its sometimes the little > things we forget..once again i am M$ free (sort of)...ziff > "The Net Pimp loon" <loon@mailroom.com> wrote in message > news:8v896m$3f7i$1@newssvr06-en0.news.prodigy.com... > > i agree with ozetechnology, sounds like a dns problem... > > loon > > ozetechnology <watsondk@my-deja.com> wrote in message > > news:8v7sea$qj2$1@nnrp1.deja.com... > > > do other sites work in netscrape? > > > > > > try a nslookup on icq.marabilis.com > > > > > > First thing to do is check your DNS setup, look in /etc/resolv.conf for > > > the correct IP addresses, also check nsswitch.conf and make sure the > > > hosts: line contains both files and dns > > > > > > what was the firewall you installed? > > > > > > site: www.ozetechnology.com > > > +++ New Images in the Gallery +++ > > > > > > > > > In article <rCJR5.36581$SF5.670057@ozemail.com.au>, > > > "ziff" <ziff1@hot..mail.com> wrote: > > > > Hello people, i have just clean installed redhat 7.0, all is running > > > nicely > > > > except when i try to start licq or netscape.
