What bothers me so much about AISH is that the whole program was not
thought out completely BEFORE the government instituted it and
therefore there are actually a number of millionaires that are
receiving extra money that to them is just pocket change. This is what
makes me so darn angry about AISH. I have a friend that had to declare
bankruptcy because all her illnesses drove her to the poor house and I
told her to apply for AISH. She was turned down even though she
clearly did qualify. I called AISH to find out why? I was told that in
order to qualify for AISH the person has to be willing to work
part-time. I could not believe what I had just heard. If a person IS
SEVERLY HANDICAPPED and can prove it why do they have to be able to
work? And, if they are able to work then why are they not able to work
full-time and what is the purpose of AISH. I also want to post here
that the person I had to talk to (the supervisor) was an East Indian
and could hardly be understood. English or French huh? I could hardly
understand a word he said and he was a supervisor?????????
