I feel rather sorry for these girls, being presented as commodities.  Yeah, 
I know that's how the world works and I too evaluate women on their looks, 
but....

I have had two Russian "girlfriends", both of whom I met.  I also learned to 
speak Russian.

Both were attractive, but in neither case did I feel at ease enough to get 
turned on.  There's a sort of glitzy superficiality to their beauty. Russian 
women have an extremely hard shell - they have to in order to survive in 
traditional male-dominated Russian society  - but they are totally different 
when safely in the bosom of their trusted families.

In my case, what bedevilled the growth of a natural, genuine relationship 
was her unspoken agenda - to find financial security through marrying a 
foreign passport-holder and to start a family.  I was a means to an end, not 
an end in myself.

They're not big on 'personal freedom' - it's all (necessarily) about 
survival and family obligation. Men are expected to be men and women - 
women. Just having a funny friendship on an equal footing with another 
interesting person was out.

Maybe American gals aren't so bad after all...  ;-)

I have met some russian girls, and this statement you make is very
true.

They're either looking for financial security (and wanting to
start a family), or in some cases,
just a new passport.

However, I have a soft-spot for russian gals. They tend to carry
themselves
in a very feminine way, and some of the most beautiful women I've
*ever* seen were from the former USSR.

The younger generation of former USSR women (under 30) are much,
much more westernized though (despite the fact that they continue to
struggle economically). Perhaps you'll find more success with the
younger russians.
