G'Day Eleni, Okay, firstly, the plastic cover isn't actually permanently positioned, in that it can be removed. You just need to persist, without being too harsh, until you get one end up. Then, simply moving the cover back and forth will eventually loosen it from it's clip. You may find using something like a ball point pen will be handy. As for ESD, the best thing to do is actually leave your computer plugged in, although not switched on, and to touch the power supply box before touching any of the IC components. Having said that, replacing the battery should not involve any real hazzards with regards to static electricity, as long as you're not touching any other components or their connectors. In any case, touching the power supply box should remove any static electricity from your body. And, if the computer is still plugged in, it is also being earthed. I hope this has been of assistance. Kind regards, Joe. Windows 95, noun, 32 bit extensions and a graphical shell for a 16 bit patch to an 8 bit operating system originally coded for a 4 bit microprocessor, written by a 2 bit company, that can't stand 1 bit of competition.
