Hi all,

I'm trying to help a friend out with their imac. They're a computer 
newbie, and I'm a mac newbie (I use linux and windows), but I figure 
it's about time I started learning a bit more than just how to configure 
mac networking and such.

The imac is running OS 8.6 and a lot of webpages are not displaying 
properly on the old web browsers that are installed. I'm wanting to 
install Netscape 7.0 and (hopefully) a more recent version of internet 
explorer for mac (along with outlook express).

My questions are: how does one go about installing software on a mac? 
How do I remove the old software on a mac? Should I even bother removing 
the old software? If I remove the old software first, will the user's 
email/address books and bookmarks/favourites be lost when I go to 
install the new software?
