As far as I know, Canon is the only vendor with separate individual colour
cartridges.

I would have to say that Canon would be the last printer to choose from
for Linux.. They are in fact, ANTI Linux.. If you could believe it..

They have actually issued "cease and desist" orders on people writing
canon drivers for linux..

Nuts..

HP and Lexmark have actually written drivers for Linux for their colour
printers, so they may be a good choice to start with .

I purchased a Xerox DocuPrint for work recently and it had srivers and full
instructions in the manual on how to configure it for Linux (using RedHat as
the example). I was so impressed I made a comment on the warranty card when
i sent it back.

BTW at $800 for a flat paper laser with 500 sheet feeder and network card it
was pretty well priced too.

I have a BJC 1000SP and it runs excellent using the supplied cannon drivers
on redahat mandrake and slackware. Play around with different drivers and
run a test print to see which is best for your particular model. I beleive I
am using redhats bjc2000 from memory.

Hi

Epson Stylus C80. Has individual cartridges and uses esc/p2. Should work
with a EC900 or 980 driver.

It is a little expensive but it does churn out up to 20ppm !

Good Luck

The latest Australian MacWorld has quite a favourable review on the
latest cheap Epson Printer, the Stylus C80. It has separate tanks, but
I couldn't say how it performs on PC or Linux systems.

Cheers,

Phil.

The HP1700 series supposedly has individual color cartridges. Don't know
about availability or if it is best. I've been looking for an inkjet
that has postscript and came across this one. There is a version of the
HP1700 which has Adobe PS RIP if you can find a place that will sell you
one. The HP website won't.

you can remove the print head and insert a scanner head... hey presto a
