As I understand, writing about experiences with other direct-order companies may help some people to avoid obvious troubles. May praise better service or may show obvious flows. I have some experiences with the Gateway2000 and the MidWest Micro. At the beginning of this year I bought a P5-66 system from GW2K. I wanted to have a special configuration, which caused some initial problems. But, as I see it from a few months perspective, the company was excellently organized, people with whom I talked were cooperative and sympathetic, all the problems were resolved. I started to admire the Gateway2000 when I started to deal with the MidWest Micro. Imagine, after waiting more than a months for my sub-note computer, I learned that they silently canceled my order. Their excuse was, that I have used a foreign credit card and they could not reach me by phone for the confirmation. I was really bitterly disappointed. There was nothing wrong with my card, and there is a regular possibility to call me at home. They simply did not try persistently. Not to speak about the "outdated" possibility to send me a letter !!. The sales supervisor, Jake, complained, that I did not have answering machine!! When you deal with MidWest Micro don't have much hopes to be called back, when you ask for it. You are treated as Nobody, Mr. Null. Very unpleasant. Of course, it may be related to personal flows of the Mr. Jake (or his supervisors), but as I see from this thread there is something more behind it: I believe, that the MidWest Micro does not care abour their customers. Apparently, MidWest Micro is spoiled by too many orders and waiting queue. In this context I really praise Gateway2000, where you still have the feeling to be a valuable customer. Thanks Gateway, Zenon. PS. The only solution which Mr. Jake was able to propose was ... to order again and to wait the same time as a new customer. Very friendly, indeed. Does anybody know, where to post complaints as this one ? TO PROTECT the others, and to point out bad examples !!
