OK, I know that Newsgroups are generally a great place to complain, but,
just this once, I thought it would be good to give credit where it is due!

At 1.00 PM yesterday, I rang Gateway's 1800 number to advise them that the
CD-ROM/1.44Mb combo drive on my Solo appeared to have died on me. After
running me through a few tests which confirmed this, they immediately took
the details to arrange to send me a replacement, which should arrive by the
end of the week. Given that they are in Sydney, and am 3,300 km away in
Perth, I figured that this was pretty reasonable. I was therefore very
pleasantly surprised to receive the replacement by courier at 9.00 am this
morning, just 20 hours after I rang them. It works perfectly!!

That is what I call good customer support, and why I will continue to buy
Gateway when I get the opportunity (& the cash!!)

Well done Gateway!

Jeremy,

I'll second that!

I've had numerous similar experiences over the years. If you're
polite to GW tech support, they'll bend over backwards to
help you. I'm as pleased as you are with the service. That's
why we have 5 Gateways in our family.

Cheers!
Scott
