SunOS 5.6 (the OS component of Solaris 2.6), and SunOS 5.7 (part of
Solaris 7) both still support all of the sun-4c machines (SS1, SS1+, SS2,
SLC, ELC, IPC, IPX), so you should be able to get it to boot.

Unless your SS1+ has a bootROM that's close to version 2.9 (say 2.4 and
up), the 'boot cdrom' command at the 'ok' prompt probably isn't supported.
What you will need to do is, from the '>' prompt (which you should get if
your bootROM is a v1.x ROM), type 'b sd(0,6,2)' and I think that should
load the boot program off the CD.

Also, older Sparc boxes are *very* susceptible to SCSI cabling problems,
so make sure the cable to your CD-ROM drive is as short as possible,
correctly terminated (with an active terminator preferablly), and is not
one of the cheap cables which does not include all the ground return
wires.

Regards,

Craig.
