Hi there,
I have an .ini files that I would like to copy over to 100+ other
computers.
So i made a boot disk that would boot up and run autoexec.bat and then copy
some other .dat files over and then the .ini files.
But there seems to be a problem that I can't get to copy the .ini
file over, unless I have Windows started. i.e When i get into windows, and
enter ms-dos prompt, only then will it allow me to copy ovre the .ini files
using xcopy32.
i copied the xcopy32 over to the floppy, used the entire same command that
was used in windows 98 but it wouldn't work. the option of being able to
copy hidden files seem to have dissapeared once i copied xcopy32 into the
floppy.
Any ideas of how this can be solved?
Just another question, let's say if i have a boot up disk with
autoexec.bat that copies my .dat files over, and i've got another disk with
some more .dat files to be copied over to the hard disk. When disk 1 is done
with copying, what should i type inside the autoexec.bat to prompt me to
insert the new disk and start to carry on to copy the remaining one or two
.dat files?
i.e Please insert disk 2... click any key to continue
and after i insert disk 2, i'd be able to carry on copying the .dat files
note: the data files are not linked, meaning they're seperate files.
So i'm actually trying to have 2 disks. one which is a boot disk
which runs autoexec.bat and copies my .dat to the other computers' hard
disk, after which, it will prompt me to insert the 2nd diskette, and then
copy my remaining .dat files and the hidden .ini file.
I hope someone can help me!
It sure is going to make my life a hell lot easier!
Cheers,
Eugene.
PS: Would appreciate if you could send or forward your replies to me. or if
you wanted, to me and the newsgroup.
