Exactly.  And imagine how much worse it would have been for her if some
person had plead guilty to murder, and blamed it all on her in exchange
for a lighter sentence, and it was completely publicized?  How hard would it
have been for Nelles to defend herself?  What would her life have been like
even if she had been later judged innocent?

Of course, now we know that there really weren't any murders at the Sick
Children's Hospital, and the postmortem lab tests showing digoxin are known
to have been fooled by the metabolic byproducts of trace fumes given off
by the rubber in the ventilator hoses.
