No, Clay. In fact I do NOT believe that our supposedly
representative governments necessarily, or even regularly act on
behalf of the voters.
I *DO* however believe that we live in a democracy.
Unfortunately, our models of democracy are based on ridiculously
outdated traditions and models. These models DO need updating, to
reflect such changes as the greatly improved communications
systems of today. Put the house of commons online, and give
everyone acess to its proceedings!
Direct democracy will never be possible. The general public just
does not have the time and/or inclination to make it possible.
but better ties between the general public, and the elected
represntatives *IS* possible, and necessary
