I have no idea whether or not David Stewart's claim regarding the ability
of the U.S. Passport Office to deny you a passport on the basis of your
having received a dishonorable discharge from the U.S. military is true.

However, his other claim (which Chris Lewis misunderstood in the extreme)
is true. Without a US passport, it is hard for a U.S. citizen (presumably
living in the U.S.) to leave North America and return to the U.S. David's
statement does not imply that the U.S. is not in North America, if anything,
it implies that it is.

Note that it is fairly easy for a U.S. citizen to travel via personal
automobile to either Canada or Mexico and return to the U.S. with only a
driver's license for identification. Therefore, not having a passport
would not restrict one from travelling outside the country, it would just
"make it hard" for one to travel outside North America. I assume this is
why David used the phrase "North America" instead of "the U.S." in his
statement above.

Please people, before you flame others, try to understand what they wrote.
