Ever heard of the word 'exageration'! ALL systems experience problems when adding some hardware or installing software which pushes it to it's limits! The evidence is right here in PC, Amiga and Mac newsgroups! >You TOO can can have hours of fun taking the credit for other peoples >work, > i.e. Windoze (taken from Apple) Which was taken from the GUI seen by BOTH Bill Gates (Microsoft) AND Steve Jobs (Apple) in the mid-80s (from Rank Xerox research and developement?). > 32 bit and multitasking (taken from amiga) Multitasking wasn't invented on the Amiga, it was just one of the first home computers to implement it! > And still feel like a complete prat when your NEW windoze'98, > revealed to all the world at a MAJOR press conferance > > CRASHES & CRASHES &CRASHES & ........... well you get the point. These things do happen (now you're not going to tell me that the Amiga NEVER crashes are you? :-D). I've been using Windows 95 since, you've guest it, 1995, and the only problems I've had with it is when changing hardware (which I expect anyway), or playing with the configuration and drivers (usually when I should have left it alone!). Yes it's not perfect, however if the Amiga OS had to support the range of software, hardware and users as the PC, I doubt it's OS would fare any better! > No I'm not just being biased. I'm an electronic engineer with quals in > maintenance and programming....<snip> And I'm a Network Manager in a University with PCs (largest proportion), Macs, Sun Workstations etc. and users of all these systems experience problems on a regular basis, i.e crashes, corrupt/lost files, hardware failures etc. The biggest problem for any computer are ourselves, the USERS. More users = More problems! :-) > BTW you don't see anyone giving away Mac's do you? I've got one as a doorstop, does that count? (only joking folks!) To be honest, the reply you gave was quite appropriate, since the previous post was written with no other intension other than to provoke. However, the PC, whilst not perfect, is not the nightmare you make it out to be. When it's working well, it is a very fine machine indeed. (And yes, I know, I left myself open for attact with that last sentence! :-D). :) Dr Yassam -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own
