Can anyone give me a suggestion as to how to record sounds using a
microphone in Linux?  I've installed several
sound recorder rpm's but nothing seems to detect any input.  I've used
dd with an input of /dev/dsp, and when I cat the file back, I can hear
it, but it is extremely faint, I can barely hear it.  Any help would be
greatly appreciated!!
