I'm not quite sure I understand how to get the appletviewer to open a .class file. I know the command (while being in the folder is) from the dos prompt is: appletviewer Test.class and the import java.applet.*; but when I do the command at the dos prompt I get this message:- warning: No Applets were started. Make sure the input contains an <applet> tag. usage: appletviewer [-debug] [-j<javaflag>] [-encoding <character encoding type>] url | file ... Could someone please explain this to me, as I cannot find anything in this book about it ? thanks Paul from Brisbane

Actually, you want the appletviewer to open a HTML file which refers to the class. This should do the trick ... <html> <head> <title>Applet test</title> </head> <body> <applet code="Test.class" width="400" height="400"></applet> </body> </html> Then, to invoke it you call appletviewer passing the HTML file as a parameter. So, don't do this - : appletviewer Test.class Instead, you do this - appletviewer Test.html And all will work fine ! Regards, David Williams
