This may be a trivial question. How do you get a class file to run just by double-clicking it, as if it were an .exe file?

Hi! You open a explorerwindwo and at the third menu (i don't know exactly what its called in the english version) there is a point named options or folderoptions with active desktop , there will came a tabbed panel and you go to filetypes, there u use the button "New File Type", there you can choose a other symbol, at discription u type in the file discripton u want and a the field below u type in the extention form your files for examel .class and at the text field below type in the action that you want "open" and then use button "new" and choose the application u want to use. The only problem is applets and applications use the same extention so the system don't know what to use appletviewer.exe or java.exe I hope that would help a little. You've probably thought of this but not all .class files are executable where as all .exe files are. You should just double click on a .class file and windows will pop up a box asking what you want to open the file. Browse for java.exe [assuming you are using JDK] and tell windows to always use that program for that file type. You *may* need to add a 'set CLASSPATH=c:\jdk\bin' or whatever in your autoexec.bat but I dunno.. Pehaps someone should write a wrapper program for this as this is something I thought of doing too but I don't us windows much anymore [linux is actually STABLE!]. Sko
