Hello fellow developers, I am rather new to Java development and have recently finished developing a Java applet that uses a Swing (JFC) GUI. Using SDK 2, I can get it running perfectly under the appletviewer, however whenever I attempt to run it in either Netscape or IE 4 with the Java 2 Plug-in installed, I get the following: "Applet jewpApplet error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/swing/JApplet" Does this mean the the Java 2 plug-in does not include the swing classes? If not how can I get around this? I would appreciate any advice or help on this. cheers, Adrian -- Adrian De Luca Developer adrian.deluca@hds.com.au

Make sure you've converted your HTML to specify the plugin -- even with the plugin installed the standard applet tag still uses the browser's JVM. Tom

I'm experiencing a similar problem. I *have* converted my HTML to support the Sun Java plug-in. In fact, Sun has a nifty HTML Converter program on one of their websites that I downloaded to perform this very action. Yesterday it was working fine. Today, when I try to run my (simple) Swing-based Java applet in IE 4, the browser sits there churning away but nothing happens. I'm guessing it's looking for some file and can't find it, but I've checked the registry and my system PATH environment, and everything looks OK at first glance. But then again.... Any clues on this one? I had that problem when I had my browser trying to load a .class file. If I get it to point at a .jar file, it works fine.. That's running off IIS. Class files seem to work fine using other web servers. -- Shawn Foo mtackett@intermec.com wrote in message <81f61f$lh0$1@nnrp1.deja.com>... >I'm experiencing a similar problem.
