1) could be a dud CD - rare but a bummer - do you know anyone with same? 2) CD or CDrom or both might need a clean - how old is CDrom drive? 3) Do other CD's behave (e.g. big transfers like Quake II)? 4) Maybe try a pocket linux installation (e.g. a ram based one like tomsrtbt (http://www.toms.net/rb/) which you can then try to check your linux partitions with... a) mkdir /mnt/native ; mkdir /mnt/swap b) edit /etc/fstab using vi /dev/hdc1 (or whatever) /mnt/native ext2 defaults 0 0 /dev/hdc2 /mnt/swap swap defaults 0 0 c) mount /mnt/native ; mount /mnt/swap d) e2fsck etc... Good luck!
