On your CDROm is a bunch of software. It's stored in
a package format called rpm (man rpm)

So you have to
1) mount the cdrom
2) go to the place they are stored
3) install the appropriate ones.

Right. First odd, become root
	su -

Mounting the cdrom is usually
	mount name-of-cdrom name-of-place-to-put-it

On redhat, this is usually
	mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

the file /dev/cdrom must exists - it's probably a link to
some other file. mine for example is
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     root            5 Oct  3 06:39 /dev/cdrom -> sbpcd

/mnt/cdrom must also exist, and be a directory.

OK, you have your cdrom mounted, now you go into it and find the RPMs
directory

usually you would do
	cd /mnt/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS
because that's usually where they hang out on redhat cdroms
If that's not working, then start hunting on ther cdrom for
a bunch of files ending in .rpm

OK.. so now you load the software.

first, find it. look for the kernel packages
	ls *kern*
You will need the headers and the source.

To install them, use the rpm package manager. This is left as
an exercise for the reader :) try
	man rpm
and go from there.

They don't :)

The loyal linux evangelists who use zip do though :)

This is what open source and the net is about, return the favour to
the next novice you come across...
