HELP: Gnome on Debian

G'day,

Could someone please point me to _quality_ information on
setting up Gnome under Debian Linux.

I've downloaded everything the gnome page suggests, but
I just can't eradicate dependency problems with the install.

It looks like I have the wrong version of some packages
(especially in the GTK stuff).

Has anyone done this ?
