I suggest you consider Redhat 5.2 with the APC Linux pocketbook. at $15 its pretty cheap, and though the pocketbook isn't perfect for newbies like us, with a little extra online help you can get going. The installation itself went off without a hitch for me, an I now happily run a dual boot system with Win95 and Linux. Linux has a boot loader called LiLo and it just gives you the option at boot time between OSs. Hope this helps.
