EtherExpress PRO 10 Woes

Hi Guys,

I'm not having a good time trying to install the Intel EtherExpress PRO 10
card underneath Linux.

Kernel 2.0.21

In /usr/src/linux/include/linux/autoconf.h has the line
   #define CONFIG_EEXPRESS_PRO 1

I have replaced the file /usr/src/linux/drivers/net/eepro.c with version 10 and
recompiled the kernel.

When I type in ifconfig eth0 203.5.108.101 I get the error message
   SIOCSIFADDR: No such device

When I cat the file interrupts underneath /proc I cannot see the interrupt for
the card. At the same time, the interrupt I set the card to use is not being
used either.

When I cat the file ioports nothing there talks about the card, but the address
range that I have used for the card is free.

I think that the problem could have something to do with the fact that I cannot
disable Plug and Pray on the motherboard. It is a Pentium PCI (even though the
card is ISA), and has an Award Modular BIOS v4.50PG as well as the Award Plug &
Play BIOS Extension v1.0A. I have taken out the sound card, which also has
Plug and Pray which I couldnt disable, but that didnt seem to help.

I was able to run the DOS program SOFTSET2.EXE and disable Plug and Pray on the
EtherExpress card.

Thanks for Any Suggestions you may have
