nslookup is an interface to DNS (Domain Name Service).
In order to use it, you need access to a named running *somewhere*.
Now, since you're not connected to any network, you need to be running
named on your machine. Go hunting through the various network howtos,
and figure out how to set up named for your box.
After you've set up named and have it running, then you point
resolv.conf at yourself for a host, and voila. Of course, this won't
get you anything except the hosts you put in the named configuration
files, but that's all you expect.
