Hi all, I am a new comer to linux and would like to ask for some help.. My aim is to keep track of dial-up users' connection time and data transferred. My current system setting is: Cisco router 2511 as the gateway (with internal ppp-encapsulation & username/password checking feature), IOS 10.3 (8), 16 modem lines, a BNC interface to our LAN. BNC LAN with 2 Windows 95 clients, 1 Linux 2.0.12 server for www, ftp, mail servers & a Linux 2.0.4 sever for primary DNS server. The main problem is dial-up users directly got verification thru' the Cisco then out for the Internet, without passing thru' the Linux server. I did a lot of research about this and found a protocol called X/TACACS/+ for a Access Server could keep accounting record in this case but I cannot find a workable version for Linux.. Should I switch to pppd/linux ? But I also cannot find the relevant docs about setting up pppd server for modems over LAN from a Router.. Also I found a xtacacs-linux.tar.gz from Sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/systems/Network/admin.. but cannot compile.. Any comments or help is highly appreciated.... Kenny. :~<
