I know there must be something wrong. It takes Knews forever to do anything, from getting the active file (what's this anyway?), group descriptions, to downloading the article headers even though there are just dozens available. The only thing that is OK is downloading the contents of the articles. Any thoughts on what's wrong? Do I have to have a .newsrc file? I only have one for my NNTP server (something like .newsrc_news_wr_com_au). I'm sure it's something about Knews or its config because the news reader in Netscape works just fine. BTW, I'd like to prevent Knews from getting the active file and descriptions. I can do it from the command line but editing its resource file won't work. The resource file must be the right one otherwise it wouldn't know the addr of my NNTP server. Any idea? --- Kent Tong Freeman Installer ==> http://www.netnet.net/users/freeman/
