Hello,
Sorry if this is going to be a simple newbie-screaming-for-help
question :)
I have recently recompiled my kernel 2.0.0 after I got rid of my
old Teac CD55a cdrom and bought a new NEC 6x cdrom.
After I recompiled the kernel (changed the config via make
menuconfig, then make dep, make clean, make zdisk (I boot linux with
floppy), make modules, make modules_install, and finally depmod -a )
When I reboot the system it gave me an error something like:
error loading /lib/modules/2.0.0/modules.dep
and also linux would not recognise my new CDROM in the rc.cdrom
script (even though it managed to detect is as an IDE/ATAPI drive
togather with my other 3 Quantum harddisks). The error message there
is something like cannot find module xxxx.xxxx-25 ( I can't really
read what the xxxx-xxxx are, it was scrolling too fast and the pause
key don't work )
I believe the second problem is only because the modules wasn't
loaded in the first place, other than that, I have no idea what is
wrong... (the error messages were not there before I first recompiled
the kernel)
If anyone know why/how to fix the thing, please tell me. Thanx in
advance :)
Henry
