Hi all, I'm about to embark on the process of upgrading to a new version of linux (from 0.99.15 :-) and really don't want to endure the pain of the diskette shuffle, so I'm going to install a CD player. Since I need a separate controller for the CD player, I thought I might as well go the whole hog and buy a sound card as well, leading to my question ... Genuine soundblaster cards are expensive (more than the cost of the CD player), so I was wondering if anyone has had success with a clone card under linux. The brands I've encountered are KTX and ESS. Any success or horror stories you'd like to share?
