Just installed (RedHat 3.03) Linux and now have some questions:
1. There is a very nice interface letting me to choose what packages
to install during the initial install. Is there something similar
after Linux has been setup? Currently the best I can do is to
go to /usr/RedHat/RPM/ (?) where I can find all (?) the .rpm files
and then use rpm to install them. The problem is, I can't seem to
find the long description for the packages and thus I have to guess
from the .rpm file name. If that package had been installed I
would just use:
rpm -qi <file.rpm>
but for an uninstalled package it doesn't seem to work. Any idea?
2. Why the man page for many commands like "mount" is documented in
section 8, ie, Linux programmer's manual?
3. Why not all the LDP documents are included on the RedHat CD? All
I can find is just the installation guide.
4. I'd like to have BOTH a boot disk AND lilo. But the RedHat installer
doesn't seem to allow both at the same time. How do I do that?
TIA!!!
