At first it returned the error "Sorry : PPP is not availible on this system" even though it was compiled in to : the kernal. Any way that error has been fixed, now when I execute my : dial in script, nothing happens, no errors, no nothing. When I do a : 'ps' there is no entry for pppd. You don't say which kernel version you're running. As yoou've found, ppp2.2.0f fixes your first problem. I found the second problem as well running kernel 2.0.6, but when I regressed to 2.0.3 it worked fine. Not having time to look into it I went back to 2.0.3 for the moment. : This leads me to my next problem. "ps -aux" does not work. "ps -ax" : works just not the "-aux". I suspect this has something to do with the : error message I get when Linux boots. Something like "Broken flock() : emulation with process 70, lpd". The ps problem will be because you need to upgrade to procps1.01. The format of a few entries in /proc changed with the 2.0 upgrade. You'll find that 'top' probably doesn't work properly either (it's also in the procps package). The broken flock() message is telling you (in a round about way) to upgrade your libc, although I haven't bothered myself yet. I believe it's a pretty harmless message, and in fact many people have commented it out of the kernel with (aparently) no illl effect. Cheers, Bob.
