XFree & MS Bus mouse

I have Kernel 2.0.4 which has had the busmouse.h interrupt edited to IRQ
of 2
This is because I have a Soundblaster 16 card on IRQ 5

Anyway, I can not get Xwindows to start.
It keeps reporting the device (/dev/inportbm) is busy.
Any Ideas?

PS It works if I reconfigure Xterm to run on a MS Serial Mouse..
