Hi

I'm trying to get Linux running on a pentium box with an aha2940 SCSI
controller (PCI bus).

I have got it running - using a kernel from the DSTC ftp site and the
Slackware distribution from the Infomagic 4CD August 95 set.

My problem is this...

I need to configure the kernel to support a PCI NIC (Accton EN1203), so I have
to remake the Kernel, but the source i have doesn't have aha2940 support
available...

I tried to use a new kernel tree (from the DSTC site) which came in a file
called linuxaha2940-1.2.13-tar.gz, but when I tried to run make on it, it
stopped with an error like this:

no rule to make target '/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-linux/2.7.0...

when I check , I find that I have /usr/lib/gcc/lib/i486-linux/2.6.3...

Can someone tell me if I can upgrade my current system (which is a 1.2.13
kernel, but mostly setup for 1.2.8 a.out stuff) to do what I want ? Do I need
to go to an elf system to run the aha2940 ? Do I have to scrap it all and get
a whole newer distribution ? If I can keep what I've got and just upgrade the
compiler and a few bits...what are they ?

Any helpful advice would be great

Thanks for your time
Eric
