Help with Video Card

I've got an S3 chip video card (S3 Trio64+) so I thought I could use the
S3 setting with the SVGALIB I have (from the November 1995 Infomagic
slackware CD - Not sure which version exactly). However when I use this
setting, it refuses to do 640x480x256 (highest is 640x480x2 and
320x160x256 or something like that) and when I use any of the other
settings, it will display it correctly (I'm using Vgatest) but when it
restores the screen, it goes all flickery and the text goes all over the
place. The only way to get out of this is to reboot my machine...

Help! :-)

Cheers.
