I have had some problems installing Linux I can't get either Slackware or Red Hat to work I have a Pentium 100 + 24Mb + 200Mb HDD (for Linux) and EIDE CDROM Slackware - I chose the IDECD boot image and COLOR root disks I boot off of the boot disk and then then I get the boot prompt. It tells me to enter any additional parameters and/or press RETURN to continue - not to change disks yet. Since I have nothing to give it I press return and it trys to load the ramdisk and gives errors. I cant get past the boot prompt. Red Hat - I created a disk that supports no SCSI, IDE CDROM, Other (NE2000) ethernet. I boot from this disk and do linux root=/dev/cdrom ramdisk = 256 to install my CDROM. Now I cannot remember the exact problem but it mounted the root filesystem off of the CDROM and then just stopped doing anything - would not go any further. The last message was something like VFS: mounted root as readonly (ISO ????) What cannot I get any futher than the first disk - I have checked the disk images and they are correct for my machine. Am I not doing something correctly ??? - I will try it again and repost what messages I get. Matthew
