|Greets to you all, and THANK GOD for this newsgroup! :)
|
|I bought the Special Edition Using Linux 2nd edition, and it came with
|Slackware and RedHat. The authors wrote the book for Slackware and just "threw
|in" RedHat as a bonus. I heard RedHat was better, so I installed it. Install
|went smoothley, only took three or four tries... and then I come to XWindows (I
|think, because I can only see 1/25 of the desktop. I'm talking about mouse
|cursors the size of quarters here! Hahaha. All I can see of my first desktop is
|a :clear" and a "done" button. The rest of the dialogue box is three miles
|above my screen.
|
|I see that Slackware comes with a trident video driver, but in RedHat I have to
|pick "Generic" video card. Could this be the prob? Should I just ditch RedHat
|and go with Slackware just to see the screen in "normal" view?
|
|I'd buy you lunch, but you'd have to come here. I get motion sickness...
|Hahahaha! Later! :)

Sure, and maybe you should fix your return address if you expect to
receive any replies.

The XF86 in RedHat 3.0.3 is < 3.1.2D which was the first version to
have support for the 9440. You can get a 3.1.2D from the XFree86
archives, but since that expires in a few days you should get 3.1.2E.
