hi all, I am using linux (kernel 1.2.13) slackware 3.0 distribution. I have a SoundBlaster16 audio card installed on my PC which is a Pentium 120. The sound card works fine with Win95. I installed the sources for kernel 1.2.13 and tried to add the sound driver. I supplied relavant parameters like I/O base address, IRQ, DMA request channels etc, and successfully compiled the kernel. When I booted linux again with the new kernel, it does not recognize the audio card at boot time. After booting up, I did cat /dev/sndstat, and it told me that the sound driver was installed. I created the device files using the shell script provided in Readme.linux in drivers/sound directory of the linux source tree. I also tried cat somefile.au > /dev/audio, it comes up saying 'so such device or address'. Am I missing something here? I feel I have done everything provided in the documentation Sound-HOWTO. rajanish...
