G'day. I'm running linux at home on at nice ET4000 based SVGA card. Doom runs fine, and so does abuse. The problem is though, that I downloaded a game off the net last night (two in fact), and they both were trying to use 300x200x256 (or thereabouts) mode of my monitor. logged in not as root, they both came up with "Can't get I/O permissions". Running as root, one of them still did, and the other started, but just threw trash all over the screen (how do you fix that by the way, I can telnet in from another computer on the local net and reboot, but it's a bit awquard). The other still couldn't get the I/O permissions. Does anyone have ideas as to why? The games where lincycles and lode_run from sunsite.
